In the framework of the International Day for Universal Access to Information (28 September), the International Foundation for Protection of Freedom of Speech "Adil soz" in cooperation with UNESCO Cluster Office is organizing a photo-contest and an exhibition on the theme “Into the Lens- Freedom of Information” in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Supported by Kazakhstan Union of Journalists, IFEX-the global network defending and promoting free expression, the goal of these events is ensuring of public access to information and protection of fundamental freedoms.
At the opening of the photo exhibition E. Malygina, representative of the International Foundation for Protection of Freedom of Speech "Adil Soz" and A. Shevelev, Director of the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty made a welcoming speeches.
Nine journalists from different regions of Kazakhstan became the winners of the photo contest: Vladimir Zaikin (the newspaper "Vremya", Almaty), Madina Alimkhanova (KazTAG, Almaty), Raul stop ( "Uralskaya Nedelya", Uralsk), Yuriy Bekker (Almaty), Paul Enelgard (SEC "Almaty", Almaty), Rizabek Issabekov (Pavlodar), Sanat Urnaliev (Radio "Azattyk", Uralsk), Vladimir Tretyakov ( "Capital", Almaty), Andrei Sviridov (KMBPPChiSZ, Almaty). All participants received diplomas and the best work received financial prozes.
The photo-exhibition will take place in the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan from 28 September to 10 October 2016 in Almaty. It will be the occasion to see how the best photo-art works of media and information professionals from Central Asia act as awareness campaign on universal access to information.
In this regard, UNESCO Office in Almaty call for registration events NGOs and governmental institutions to commemorate the International Day for Universal Access to Information in accordance with the 38 C/70 Resolution adopted by the General Conference.
